Courtesy of good will on the parts of the camp, the new high school, and a nice tax refund which will make many things more possible than they might have otherwise been, it looks like Avocado will be at camp for the last few days of her last year. This means she can participate in the All-Star Softball Game, the camp musical, and the tear-laden Last Campfire. Plan is currently: she comes home for the first two days of High School (which A admits she really really doesn't want to miss) takes a red-eye back to Vermont, does Wednesday-Saturday at camp, and flies back on Sunday for the rest of school (and her life).
When we told her at dinner last night it took a while for it to sink in (we were expecting immediate jubilation). But then she got on iChat and Facebook (where there is, believe it or not, a Facebook group called LET [Avocado} STAY FOR THE LAST WEEK OF CAMP) and spread her bliss all over the lot. And then she danced. With the dog, by herself, with her dad for a moment...just jumped, literally, for joy.
I had been dreading this whole brangle for well over a year, and now, it looks like everything's working out. I am so happy for her.
