So tonight I was a reader at Writers with Drinks, held in a club in the Mission called "The Make-Out Room." Appearing were a Lesbian comic (who was very funny) ; a woman who read some very erotic Lesbian erotica; a man who read some odd but cool poetry; and a woman who read from her novel about a Lesbian who goes home to the Carribbean. And then me. I felt slightly out of my element, but the audience was wonderful. I read the saving-the-drunken-guy section of the first chapter of Petty Treason to considerable applause (I forget that I write funny until I read to a good audience). I also wore my pirate hat, just to be in the right mood. I had a good time, and got a free magazine and a free drink, too. Can't beat it.
