So Friday I was thinking to myself, hey, you know that winter cough? I think maybe I have outrun it this year. Go me.
Fast-forward about eight hours and I'm sick. I don't know which variant of ick it was, but suddenly the cough was back, my nose was running (which, since the advent of the new allergies regimen, has not been the case), and I felt exhausted and like someone was hitting me all over with small baseball bats. I didn't even think of taking my temperature until Sunday afternoon when, to my wondering eyes, it was revealed that I was cooking along at 102°. So I spent the three day weekend in bed (and not in a good way) and stayed home from work on Tuesday, too. Today I went back working at about 75% of normal energy, and still feeling like the girl-in-the-bubble. After a full day at work I'm tired, but the bubble is almost completely gone (a slight aura, maybe).
If you have your choice of which of the pathogens that are out there to tangle with, I strongly suggest you avoid this one. It's the baseball bats that are really the problem.
