al_zorra I am reading Gretchen Gerzina's Black London, which is fascinating. Perhaps the most fascinating thing of all was when Gerzina recounts that, while doing initial research she was in a London antiquarian bookstore, searching for material about people of color in England, and was told roundly that there were no people of color in England prior to World War II.
