Well, Balboa's mock trial team didn't win. But the Girl thinks they made a respectable showing; more to the point, she thinks she made a respectable showing. Plus, she had a good time. She babbled a green fields and playing Twister with the opposing teams (thirty-odd teams, and each team got to do four trials. Yikes!). Her team, which is the first winning team Balboa has had in a long while, got little buccaneer pins (which were highly prized...at the end of the competition the kids of various teams were trying to trade win the Bal students for their cool pins) and team windbreakers, specially ordered with the school's name and the student's name. So my kid has essentially Lettered in Mock Trial.

I am very proud of her. More than that, she is proud of her, which makes me happy indeed.
