You can't see this, and unless you know the neighborhood you can't tell, but that's the line of people buying BART tickets to get downtown for the Giants Parade. I estimate between 200-300 people, most in Giants shirts and paraphernalia. Not getting on the BART (Avocado and her friends all had tickets and jumped right on) but waiting to buy tickets. Even our quiet little neighborhood is jumpin. And it's a warm, sunny day, perfect for civic joy.
My foot and I are staying in the coffee shop, observing the passing parade and attempting to build on yesterday's gains, writing wise.

I'm delighted that Whitman and Fiorina, despite spending over $300 million dollars, did not make the grade. I'm hoping that Pelosi sits tight even though she's not speaker any more. As for the nation--I have to believe that we've weathered as bad and survived. And hey, the Giants beat the Rangers (with George W. scowling in every shot). We will survive.

voters who thought that electing a bunch of Democrats would magically unscrew inside two years what it took the Republicans the best part of a decade to screw up, and who have been crying like babies ever since they discovered that they had not, in fact, elected Gandalf the Grey and Albus Dumbledore to public office...
