Last night the Spouse and I went to the ILM/LucasArts/Skywalker Halloween party, held in the fabulous, cavernous San Francisco Design Center. It was thronged, a very family friendly party, with some predictable costumes and some very goofy and creative ones. Like: the entire band of Spinal Tap with props (tiny wee "Stonehenge," a drum set with the logo, and even "elves" from the Stonehenge set!); a walking pinata; a pair of jellyfish with long, multicolored tendrils; Ikea-Kitchen Prime, a six-person set of green kitchen appliances which, when "assembled" turned into a transformer; a sushi dinner (including a toddler dressed up as a piece of maguro-toro!); and my personal favorite, "Up," in which a family represented, well, UP!--dad wore the house (beautifully created, including a front room with Dug and the crazy bird sitting there, and a poster of Muntz the explorer!), mom was Carl, dragging the house by a length of garden hose, and their son was Russell, in full Wilderness Explorer garb. UP! won first prize.
We didn't win any prizes, but we did make people smile. I, per
berry_kercheval's suggestion, sewed a bunch of babies to a sweatshirt and went as the Octomom.
And the Spouse, in greens and with a big pad of $$$, went as Single Payer Healthcare.
The food was really good, the wine and beer and soda flowed, it was a great time, and my feet hurt so much when we got home last night that I took to my bed.
This morning, however, I am able to walk again. And already we're planning something a little more elaborate for next year.
