madrobinsOverheard yesterday at the market:
Small, enthusiastic little girl: "I wanna put green beans in the salad. And cucummers. And a peach!"
Mother: "No, sweetie, we don't put fruit in the salad. Salad is lettuce."
Me: went home and made a salad of grape tomatoes, sugar snap peas, fresh corn, red bell pepper, and one perfect nectarine. Lightly dressed with raspberry vinaigrette. No lettuce. Ate large quantities and was not struck down dead on the spot.
