I love Laurie Edison's jewelry. Other than stuff I inherited from my mother, and bits and pieces of jewelry I've been given over the years, the bulk of my jewelry is either Laurie's make, or [livejournal.com profile] elisem's. Which makes it all the more frustrating/enraging/depressing that a stone fell out of one of my rings yesterday--and of course I didn't notice until later.

It is a silver setting with a "watermelon" agate (I think that's it): a piece of stone that is greenish-gray around the edges and pink in the center. I'd been wearing it a lot lately. Now, of course, it's just the setting, and I don't know where the stone is, and so I can't take the stone and setting back to Laurie and ask her to make it all better, please.

I was wearing the ring, but it was made to be worn. No one else lost the stone. The ring was solidly made--all I can think is that one of the prongs got just loose enough that the stone fell out. I really, really want to blame someone and be angry at them, because I really loved that ring. But really, no one is to blame, it just happened, which is so unsatisfying that I sorta want to weep.

Ah, well. Off to the east coast in three hours. Will check in from the road.
