Floral Abundance

madrobinsSo this is where all those flowers went. Well not quite all--I did pick and choose a little, and the forget-me-nots were sprinkled on the sides. But it's kinda cool, I think.
Note the basketweave sides--not in chocolate, as it may appear, but two shades of brown buttercream (the Spouse is not a fancier of chocolate, and sulks if there is chocolate keeping him from sampling the cake). It's rather a rough and ready effort--a first draft. With time and practice I will improve, but I certainly feel like I'm getting my money's worth, skills-wise. Now maybe I could conjoin last week's sugar molding lesson with this week's basket weave, and make a basket of skulls for Halloween...
