...the city inspector came back today and approved the new, improved, up to code electrical work. Unfortunately, he also got a gander at some of the old electrical wiring (done, we think, by the former DIY-obsessed owner about forty years ago) and he wants that fixed before he issues the permit. Apparently he thought the plumbing work was okay, which is nice.

All this is on top of discovering dry rot and termites under the sunroom when they were putting in the floor last week. There's another few grand we'll never see again, and yet, I suppose it's really important not to have the house dropping out for under one.

The granite counter is in, and so is the sink; they look gorgeous. Alas, all the appliances are now scheduled to be installed on April 14, because that was the first available slot after the electrical inspection. We are discussing tile for the backsplash, and mouldings. And colors. I'm beginning to wonder where I'll be putting stuff in the new cabinets. And whether the house will ever truly be dust-free again.
