Like Dickens, But True
8/11/14 16:10So I've been listening to a spinoff podcast from This American Life, called Serial. Rather than do a one-segment story on some topic, as TAL does (or a several segment episode on a particular topic, as Radiolab does) it's a multi-episode show following one story--in this case, the examination of the murder of a young Asian woman named Hae, and the conviction of her former boyfriend Adnan. One episode a week, rolled out on Thursday morning.
It's rivetting. Each week when we reach the end of the episode I'm in that state that I imagine readers of Dickens must have been at the end of the installment: I want more! Don't stop! Come back!
Really, go give it a listen. At this point, you'll have the advantage that there are seven episodes available (out of an 8 or 10-week show) so you won't have to wait as much as I've been doing.
Is it Thursday yet?
