The Desert is Dry
20/8/11 10:18...I have been drinking gallons of water and using up vials and vials of the hotel's nice hand lotion, and remembering an old dish-soap ad that began "would you hold hands with a lobster?" Yesterday was my first day of programming and tasks: the Jane Austen panel (which was, of course, delightful, because: Jane Awesome, really), and my stint at the SFWA table, drinks with old Clarion buddies (old Clarion, not old buddies); dinner with friends, and the Who's Line is It? improv game at 11pm, which went well (although as always, I think everyone else was far funnier and wittier than I).
Today: a kaffeeklatch, the SFWA business meeting, my Urban Fantasy panel, and the Hugos, and of course much jollification afterward.
The good things: seeing so many people I don't get to see often enough. And out the window, an alien landscape.
The bad things: smoke from the casinos, which still seems to seep in everywhere; and the shuttle bus to and from the convention center, which is...erratic.
