madrobins: It's a meatloaf. Dressed up like a bunny. (Default)
This was a good day. Had the Book View Cafe reading early this afternoon--attended by more people than were reading (albeit not by much) and those that were there seemed pleased. Then had my research panel, which turned out to be more fun and rollicking than I had anticipated; research may not be dramatic to watch, but it's clearly fun to talk about.

Had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] klages and [livejournal.com profile] marykaykare and her husband and Terry Bisson at Fresco, a splendid restaurant on the top floor of the museum of art (I had risotto cakes to start, and seriously lovely salmon on a dill-crepe stuffed with cream cheese). Then off to the Guest of Honor speeches and Tiptree frivolities, which were marred only by my losing one of my earrings (I adore [livejournal.com profile] laurieopal's work, but I keep losing bits of it, dammit!). [livejournal.com profile] nineweaving was just transcendent with pleasure, glorious in her trademark peacock blue, with her hair beautifully braided (she should kidnap the woman who was doing braiding and make her come home and live in her closet and do her hair all day long).

Off to the bar, which was, of course, fun. And then, somehow, [livejournal.com profile] klages led us down the hall on the sixth floor looking for a room that was empty enough so that we could sing. She disappeared, but some other staunch soules sang with us until after 1am, ([livejournal.com profile] elisem coming in just toward the end. And then I made a noise like a hoop and rolled upstairs and into my nightie.

Tomorrow, one more panel ("Does Scientific Illiteracy Get a Pass in Media SF?" Short answer: well, yes. Next question?) and the sign out, and then an evening of relaxing and playing pool before I pack and head for home. WHere I will never eat again, because seriously: ooof. Yum oooof.
