It is the birthday of the late Mel Blanc, voice of Porky, Bugs, Daffy and Marvin, among others.
I have always loved the story that when, in the '60s, he was in a catastrophic car accident and was comatose for days (or weeks?) and it seemed like nothing was going to rouse him, a doctor came to his bedside and said, "How you doing, Bugs?" and Blanc, albeit weakly, replied--in character--"Well, Doc..."
In the great Sound Studio in the Sky, I hope he is having a swell old time.
