madrobins: It's a meatloaf. Dressed up like a bunny. (Default)
If, like everyone else, you watched the delirious Bohemian Rhapsody as done by the Muppets last week, you weren't alone. According to the New York Times, Miss Piggy and her pals are top of the charts this week.

To which I could only say: "Mama?"

I've got NPR on the radio in the background as I work, and hear about a group of parents who are manning a railroad crossing in Palo Alto in the wake of several teen suicides on that site. The interviewed parents intend to keep it from happening again, and this is laudable.

So why do I find this a little off the point? I can't quite articulate it: it's like locking up all the knives in the house to make sure no one slits their wrists--without looking at who in the house might be likely to use the knives, and offering that person help before it gets to the point where knives come into it.

Just...some part of this seems to be missing, to me.
