This morning Sarcasm Girl assembled with her various friends in front of the Northwest desk at SFO, and prepared to hop across the pond (with an interim skip into Detroit). She has everything she ought to need, and friends to hang with. And Paris. My God, the effect of Paris on a 17 year old brain!
We hung for a bit, but the how-long-are-we-staying thing got old, and when I asked her what she wanted, she said "You should probably go." So we did.
Rest of day was spent preparing for my road trip with Avocado tomorrow. Drop the Emily Dog at the Dog Motel (since Dad won't have a car in order to come home midday and walk her), then peel off for I-5 and head down south to Los Angeles, where we will spend two days in Anaheim, doing the Disney-thing, then go up to LA for a day of hanging with my fabulous Aunt Julie, before we return to the I-5 and head north again. Avocado has skating practice on Friday night, with a Girl Scout camping event after that(!) and her uncle Jim's 50th birthday party on Saturday, and then Golden Gate Skate on Sunday. I'm a little anxious about the trip, only because, much as I adore both my kids, there comes a point in the day where I want to be ALONE, and Avocado, in particular, doesn't get that. Doesn't get it in the way that makes her push her face into mine even more fiercely than usual. Sigh.
And on Sunday, we receive Sarcasm Girl back into our arms again. It's going to be a long and fitfully fabulous week.
