Baby Got Stoned
10/11/06 11:12Younger Girl, like her sister, seems to have inherited my teeth (or at least their growth pattern), which includes baby teeth that refuse to drop out and make way for their senior partners. As a result, the poor wight had to have four teeth pulled this morning. To do this, the doctor used an IV anesthetic (preceded by a milligram of Valium). The drug--not pentothal, but something like it--tends among other things to make patients babble while going into and out of sleep, and YG (again like her mother and sister) is not a taciturn kid to begin with. She rambled and babbled while the drug was dripping in, and rambled and babbled and miscounted fingers while coming out of it. She was a little like (ulp) JarJar Binks when he walks into the energy field of the podracer: "My tongue is fat! I can't feel my tongue. My nostrils are tiny! Does the nurse have a twin?"
Now, sober and under the influence of a pain pill, she is ensconced in the sun room watching Jersey Girl and eating tomato soup. She's clearly planning on milking it for all it's worth, and I think that's a fine thing.
