Via Making Light, the First Evil's LJ. This made me so happy I had to take half an hour off from writing so I could read it all.

There is a helicopter over the neighborhood, and police and fire vehicles at several corners; the BART station (three blocks away) has been closed down. It took me a while to find out what the buzz was, but:

(09-14) 11:43 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- The Glen Park BART station in San Francisco was shut down today at 11 a.m. because of a suspicious package found nearby, police and BART officials said.

The San Francisco police bomb squad was on scene and investigating, police said.

The investigation was not going on inside the station, but police requested it be shut down, BART spokesman Linton Johnson said.

Johnson said trains are bypassing the station.

The agency has set up buses from surrounding stations so Glen Park passengers can still reach their destination.

I can only assume that when the helicopter goes away, the threat will have abated. Meanwhile, I think Emily and I will go in another direction on our way to the dog park. Emily takes a dim view of helicopters. She would doubtless take a dim view of bombs, for that matter.

ETA: The helicopter is gone; apparently the police blew up the object, and BART is open again. All is serene. Time to walk the pup.
