madrobins: It's a meatloaf. Dressed up like a bunny. (Default)
Today Sarcasm Girl signed up for the SATs, then spent half an hour wheeling around the living room singing "Omigod, omigod, I'm taking the SATs! Yesterday I was in preschool and now I'm taking SATs!" She is terrified and blase about the whole thing, more or less in the same microsecond, which makes her old mother's head spin, just a little.

Meanwhile, YG is in fifth grade, and this is the year we look for middle schools. She's been talking about it--agitating, really--since last year. Today I made an appointment for her first school tour. She is delighted (and pissed off that the other schools don't start tours until late next month, when the application forms come out). She has also enrolled in every leadership program that the Boys and Girls' Club offers: Torch Club, Achievement Matters, Junior Staff, Yearbook. If I didn't know better, I'd say she was padding her resume, but it's basically just The Way She Is.
