madrobinsI have met Terry Pratchett a few times--he's a lovely fellow (although nothing is as dispiriting as sitting next to him at a Worldcon autographing table...line as far as Far Cathay in front of him, and crickets cheeping in front of me). So I'm saddened by his bad news, but awed by his public statement, which is about as graceful a thing as I've ever seen. Okay, so he's a writer, and used to making words convey what he means. Even so. If ever I have such a thing to communicate, I hope to have such lightness of spirit and grace.
