Spouse and I got back from a trip to Napa this evening; he (fighting off a cold, and on his birthday, too. Tsk!) took a nap. The girls finished frosting his highly eccentric-looking cake ("It's Craptastic!" YG announced with pleasure--Sarcasm Girl was concerned at its eccentric look, until I reminded her that all cake is essentially a frosting-delivery system, and aesthetics are second to frostingness). I made dinner. The dog wandered around hoping someone was hiding a beef hindquarter somewhere. We dined, presents were given, and then at 8pm it was...

Lights Out, San Francisco! A local initiative, where people participating turned out all inessential lights for an hour. We lit candles and wound up sitting around talking; it was a very pleasant, familial sort of thing. At the end of the hour we toasted in pear cider, YG and SG went off to argue about whose turn it was to call the shots in Sims, and Spouse and I wound up watching the final two episodes of Broadway: The American Musical on PBS. I had forgotten that I saw Sunday in the Park with George (how could I forget that?) until I saw the staging again. At 1 am, when the second episode was done, Spouse decanted himself into bed, I took Emily out for a final squeezing...and damned SG is still playing Sims.

Pardon. I have some butt-kicking to accomplish.
