I hadn't realized that Jack Kirby was so forgotten and all. When I was a kid he was the visual face of Marvel Comics (I had a marginal preference for DC, largely because my brother and I inherited a couple thousand comics, and they were almost entirely DC) and while I didn't much care for Kirby's very marked visual style (his figures moved, but all his faces looked like pumpkins with eyes) you couldn't avoid knowing that style. I prefered Carmine Infantino and Gil Kane and Neal Adams--but I think Kirby left his mark on them, too. It took me years to understand how much all these guys trained each other and influenced each other across company lines.

Anyway, I'm glad Kirby is getting his props, albeit posthumously. He was a superhero in his way.
