Mythcon pt 2

Gray and cold yesterday, even in far-flung Berkeley. I got there in time for my panel with Susan Palwick, Delia Sherman, Pat Murphy, with
sartorias moderating. The topic was fantasy landscapes and whether they require magic to make them fantastic (a book like Swordspoint, for example, has no magic, but is fantastic by virtue of its setting and feel). We wandered off from that point pretty early, into questions of what makes fantasy and what happens when you combine genres. Excellent conversation. Then I went to hear Pat read from her new YA book The Wild Girls (note to self: pick up copy for YG). Then I read my werewolf flash story, and the first chapter of The Penance Board.
Afterward, Pat and I went and got tea and cookies to counteract the creeping chill of the conference center (I could feel my fingers getting numb). Can't imagine what fun it is going to a conference there in November.
All in all, a low-key but enjoyable convention.
And on Thursday morning, waaaaaaay to early, I go off to Austin for Armadillocon. Whee!
