Me So Spaz

I was walking the dog around 12:30 today, taking her on a long-ish stroll about five blocks uphill. A car was parked across the sidewalk, so I started around it. Pavement uneven. I had that excellent sensation of knowing something was about to happen just as it was happening: my ankle bowed out, I pitched forward, bonked my forehead (over the left eyebrow) and right shoulder and broke my glasses' frame. And (as has often happened when I sprained my ankle) I felt faint and could taste the pain. I made myself stand up (which was dumb) and appear to have fainted, because when I came to I was several feet away...in the middle of the street! Fortunately, a deserted noon-time street. I got up again, sat down (sensibly) for a while, with Emily sniffing around me. Finally I got up, tried the ankle (sprained but not broken--I know the signs) and made it downhill to the house. Then called
klages for a lift to the school for a meeting. After the meeting the school librarian gave me and YG a lift home. YG is doing her impersonation of grade-school-Florence-Nightengale, plying me with Samoas and tea and ice packs.
I am fine. The bonk on the head didn't break the skin; I've got the ankle elevated and on ice (with a compression sock on) and I'm delegating all responsibilities to the Evil Young. I spoke to the doctor, who agreed that a visit to the ER didn't sound necessary at this point. Everyone is to watch me to make sure that I don't start speaking in tongues or seeing visions.
And Emily, despite having her walk curtailed, is trying to be reasonable, which is all one can ask of a Young Dog.
