Disappointed

The first real book (as opposed to A Christmas Carol) that I bought for my Nook was A Death at Pemberley, by P.D. James, which has gotten rapturous reviews. I had just finished reading Pride and Prejudice, which comes with the Nook, and thought--hey, cool! Rapturously reviewed murder mystery! Elizabeth! Darcy! Wickham! Jane and Bingley! All it needs is Mrs. Bennet going into raptures about her sons-in-law's incomes, and I'll die happy.
Only problem is: It's not good. The first 60 pages of the book are an extended and clunky info dump. As you know, Bob: the entire plot of Pride and Prejudice laid out for you... And there are phrases that ring so false ("I'll try to get in touch with her." As if.) And the relentless telling-not-showing of virtually everything.
I'm going to finish it, because I like P.D. James and can't believe this of her. But...I want the book that the Rapturous Reviewers read!
