madrobinsOwen Gleiberman, whose judgment I generally trust, gave the new Pride and Prejudice an A. I had pretty much decided I would have to see it, if only in the same spirit in which I had to see the perfectly dreadful film version of The Avengers that came out some years ago (Ralph Fiennes as Steed? Uma Thurmann as Peel? Chiggers!). Now I have to see it to see who's got it closer: Anthony Lane or Gleiberman. Damn.
