Avocado is Purple

After my signal failure to achieve a deep saturated purple on Avocado's hair last week, we called in the pros. In this case, a lovely woman named Karen at The Grateful Head (yes, really. This is San Francisco, after all) who first looked at A's non-haircut (straight, just skimming the shoulderblades, her hair thick enough to billow out with a slight wave, with no shape whatsoever) and asked rather timidly if she could suggest, um, thinning the hair a little. We placed ourselves in her hands (after I had signed a document swearing that I really did want her to cut and dye my child's hair) and this is the result. The bangs (which are new) sort of took Avocado by surprise--which is to say, she may have been expecting them to be different somehow. But the kid has inherited Mama's long-ish face, and something to shorten it is helpful. And the purple--which you can barely see here--is a true royal purple. It would show better if she had an ermine collar, of course, but after what we paid for the two-process color plus cut and style, we'll wait to another time for the fur piece.
She's so pleased with herself, it's worth rubies.
