Sarcasm Girl's voice teacher, Katie Guthorn, is married to Morey Goldstein, a fellow musician. Around Christmas-time Morey was diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. Despite surgery, chemo, and radiation, the tumor has grown, and Morey's survival time has shrunk from a possible two years to less than a year. They're now giving him palliative care at home. Morey and Katie--both musicians--have health insurance, but it doesn't provide for home care. I realize it's something of a stretch to ask people to give money to an utter stranger, but if anyone has any spare change and wants to help a total stranger in the last few months of his life, this is where you go.

I've only met Morey a few times--he is both a talented and a genuinely nice guy--and the Bay Area music community has rallied to help him. Katie I know a little better; she is coping with Morey's illness with courage and good humor and patience, while trying to keep up her own work schedule. They're good people.
