madrobins: It's a meatloaf. Dressed up like a bunny. (citibit)

You know what's depressing? Getting up in the morning, checking your email, and seeing that you have received 18 emails from job-posting boards, each with 5-30 listings, and feeling that you must go through each email and see if you want to apply to any of them. It's depressing for a number of reasons, but the largest reason is the sheer overwhelming number of the things, which breeds a walloping sense of hopelessness. Hopelessness is not a good quality in a job seeker, I am told.

This morning I unsubscribed from all of them. You heard me: every last damned one. I will go looking for work in places I am perhaps more likely to find it, but I will not be beat over the head and shoulders by news that there are 60 administrative assistant jobs for lawyers, and McDonalds is hiring.

Onward.
