madrobins: It's a meatloaf. Dressed up like a bunny. (citibit)
Friday was Avocado's last day of school.  She sang "Star Spangled Banner" at the school moving-up ceremony, received her senior sweater, and turned in her last assignment (a film of a play she wrote earlier this year) on Friday--just sneaking in under the wire on that one.  Saturday morning she took the World History SAT subject test.  Then we went through her clothes, sorting out which she no longer wore (four piles: throw out/mend and return to use/give to Goodwill/sell at a clothing exchange) and then going out to buy her some jeans that were neither paper-thin nor too small.  FInally, we all went out for burgers, and I saw Star Trek and she and Danny saw Iron Man 3.  Today she's at work.

On Monday she starts a four-week summer school class to make good the Bio class that went awry last year, finishes up her online Spanish class, and with those done, her sophomore year will be only a memory.  She and her dad are doing some college visits this summer, just before she does a 3-week AP Government course at Georgetown University.  After which there's Outside Lands, and then...she's a senior.

On Friday I called home from work to see how her first day of vacation was going (no one actually goes to class after moving up, unless they have to turn things in or make up a final).  "I'd forgotten how boring summer is," she said.  Just looking over the first two paragraphs, I don't understand how she has the time to be bored...
