Life with the Household Teen is not always full of sturm und drang. Yesterday
klages came down to pick me up at work, and we drove up to Redwood City, where we caught a show of Titanic in 3D (parenthetically, the 3D is generally subtly done and effective; I'm not sure it adds anything to the movie, but it wasn't distracting). Many tears, some giggling, and Avocado was enraged by the inconsideration of some of the audience (the woman next to her was texting the whole movie through, and this audience was particularly talky). Came out just after nine and started adventuring, looking for a place to eat. Drove north, begging Ellen's iPhone to find us a place where the grown-ups could get a glass of wine and we could all eat something (northern California shuts down pretty early, food-wise). Wound up at an Outback Steak House, where we had acceptable dinner, and continued the laughing part of the program. Then home, where I wound up reading to Avocado (her new bed-time routine is warm milk and me reading aloud).
