Now it Can be Told
16/9/11 16:39I've been a little cagy about my job-hunting activities of late--in part because the process makes me feel like pulling my teeth out with a silver salt spoon, and in part because there was a possibility of something on the horizon.
Well, starting Tuesday, 20 September, I will be Production Editor at Klutz Books in Palo Alto. Went down to sign paperwork and meet the president and have lunch with Jen, my new supervisor (who has been carrying the entire production load since the old Managing Editor left in mid-August. I think she's happy to have backup coming in!).
It's about an hour and a quarter commute via BART and Caltrain, but I tried it out today and got three pages written (longhand) and about three chapters read of the current research book. I cannot guarantee that every day will be that productive, but if I can just keep up the flow--that's still a book a year. Or so. (Note to self: deadline for new Sarah Tolerance is April. Be productive or else, please.)
The sigh of relief from My Husband the Saintly Patron of the Arts was heard all the way down in Palo Alto (which, given that he's up in Nicasio, is saying something).
So I guess now I'm a Klutz.
