madrobins: It's a meatloaf. Dressed up like a bunny. (Default)
After an English muffin at 2pm and dinner at 8 (my, aren't we hoity toity. We are when someone else makes dinner and we are slug like and it is brought to us on a tray), I am a more-or-less fully functioning Madeleine today. Which is good, because I have an old friend coming for dinner tonight, and, more frighteningly, eight teenagers coming over for Avocado's birthday sleepover tomorrow night. Co-ed sleepover, that is.

This has been an interesting process. The invitees were all given a note to their parents asking the parents to call me to check in, to make sure they're all okay with it (I'm assuming the parents who aren't okay will keep their kids home, but in this case I wanted to be explicit). And I've stated upfront that if the kids get out of hand--if there is any acting out (sex, drugs, alcohol, property destruction, etc), everyone goes home, even if it's 3am and I have to drive them all home myself. The idea being that if one or two people can screw up the party for everyone, they'll be more likely to self-police. And really, they're a nice bunch of kids, given to gooniness but not nastiness. I'm anticipating no sleep but a generally good outcome. And cinnamon rolls for Sunday breakfast. Lots and lots of cinnamon rolls.

My reward is that Sunday evening I'm going over to [livejournal.com profile] klages's house to watch the SAG awards and tear up at the "people who died this year" segment, because it's what I do.
