I have been using the website stuff to ignore the fact that I have serious work to do in unsnarling Miss Tolerance's current dilemma. It's so easy to sit around tweaking and poking at this stuff without actually learning what I'm doing (although I've pretty much decided against Squarespace--I do like their design, but I really really do not like their "intuitive" interface, which assumes you know the terminology for all the things you want to do--it is designed from the code out, which I suppose is not unreasonable, but I want to work from the design out, and...no).

I am not going to look at the damned thing until tonight, after dinner. Promise. Really. I have enough other things to do.

PS: overheard from the other room: "In half a year I'm going to get my learner's permit!" Words to make a mother shudder.

I heard about this on NPR a few minutes ago, and had to go looking for more information. An error on Google Maps almost started a border skirmish between Nicaragua and Costa Rica:
Where once only two rocks marked a sleepy border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua, recent days have witnessed an escalation in tension between the Central American neighbors over the tiny Isla Calero at the mouth of the Rio San Juan, which both nations have claimed since 1850. Nicaragua began to re-dredge the San Juan in October in order to restore its channel route, a move justified by the Google Maps portrayal of the border location, which it turns out was off by about 2.7 kms (1.6 miles).
Google has apologized for the error, and is fixing up its maps.

Okay. I committed. Went with the Wordpress site--Squarespace simply had too steep a learning curve for me right now. sarahtolerance.com is now live. I'm going (at least for a while) to try to blog the blog once a week, at least while I can think of something to say. Note the link to the right. I am feeling so very accomplished.

When I have the madeleinerobins.com site live I will send up a bottle rocket or something. And now I don't have to talk about any of this again for a while. Onward.
