Nuts for the Winter
28/8/10 08:46...or the fall, at least. I realized yesterday that starting Wednesday I will be laid up for a minimum of four weeks. On my ass. Not going out. Relying on the kindness of strangers and my family. So today I am going to be a whirlwind of stuff-doing: hitting the cake supply store (three weeks in I have two big cakes commissioned that sounded like too much fun to turn down), hitting Costco, making chili and stew to freeze so I don't have to cook too much. It's like nesting, only with the potential for crutches.
Meanwhile, I've got six chapters of the book all marked up and ready for a final whupping (I have to do something during that first ten days to a week of being flat on my back, and final revisions sounds like a plan) and have spent another 15 hours this week being Mighty with the freelancery. Sometimes, I realize, I'm just trying to justify my existence to the universe (especially when going in for surgery--"Look! I'm useful! Don't screw me over with iatrogenic illness or catastrophic surgical accidents, please"). And sometimes I just enjoy getting stuff done.
And I have my membership for World Fantasy, so I have a deadline of when I need to be portable. It's good to have a goal.
