madrobins: It's a meatloaf. Dressed up like a bunny. (Default)
Went to an antique fair this morning (after I did a morning's worth of work, so I am full of some sort of rather sweaty virtue), where I found the edition of A Little Princess that I first read as a child--with the gorgeous illustrations that were burned into my head at that time. I am happy.

Also bought an odd little container that looks like one of those buffet warmers with the pull-down lid, only about three inches in diameter. Silver. Badly tarnished. I don't know what will go in it, and yet, it was cool and I had to have it.

I will now go do more work, to up the virtue quotient. And then: I make croissants! Because I can.

That what I really need to do is combine the last two chapters I revised together into one better chapter. Will have to think about this.

This is the view from the porch of the little cottage where I'm staying. It has been hot but not unbearably so, so I am making croissants. Because, really: butter and flour and yeast. What's not to like.

Maybe I'll start revising another chapter before I have to check and see if the dough is rising properly.

ETA: and last night a peacock ran down the wash! Seriously. And those things can get up a serious head of steam when they're running. Several people (including Will and a neighbor) went out to try to catch the thing, figuring better the humans than the coyotes, but alas...no catching. Hope the bird's all right.
