Out in the Marin Sunshine
3/7/10 18:28Spouse's work picnic was today--just us and a coupla thousand employees and family members of the company, plus, food, music, games, swimming, activities for the kids, boating, conversation, and wandering around the Ranch. Spouse has been working there for 18 months and today is the first time he checked out the Farm Group, where the various animals hang out: horses (including a couple of wee tiny little miniature mules, one named Burrito), chickens, goats, chinchillas, all sort of lazing about in the heat. The cattle were sensibly inside away from the weird people. It was flawlessly gorgeous and clear, and hot. We lasted about three hours and decided to go home and cede the honors of the day to those younger and less afraid of heatstroke than we.
Tomorrow we head out to Martinez for local celebrations with Sarcasm Girl and The Beau. I am making peach pie for the occasion, because I have a sudden odd longing to do so. I do so love summer stone fruit.
Happy 4th, citizens of my country. For those of you from other countries, well, bear with us. We'll be done with the fireworks shortly.
