The sun, for the first time in days, is shining seriously, as if someone had forgotten that June in San Francisco ≠ summer. I'll take it. It does, however, permit me to see the extent to which every surface in the house (except the bathrooms I cleaned yesterday) is covered with dust and dog hair. Sigh.

Today's tasks:

Clean kitchen
Return friend's car
Do the writing work I didn't get to yesterday
Organize bills on Spouse's desk
Epicize the Epic Dog
An hour on the Wii Fit
Clean/organize the tops of the bedside tables/bureau in my bedroom (this sounds like less of an Augean task than it is, alas).

That ought to keep me busy for a bit.

ETA: I'm seriously in the mood for ice cream. Maybe I'll see if blueberries help.

For several days I put off dealing with the reorganization of Part III of the book. It was overwhelming. My brain fizzed when I thought about it. It was going to take forever, and be horrible.

Took me thirty five minutes, with a yellow legal pad and a previously configured List of Events Which Must Happen. Wasn't horrible, wasn't overwhelming. Why was I making such a big deal about it?

I also cleaned the kitchen today. It sparkles! Again, I tend to put off cleaning because I don't like doing it, and it's going to be horrible and take forever and Idonwanna. So I got everything done in just under forty minutes (okay, I didn't vacuum--I'm going to vacuum the whole house in a day, so I figured I could let that slide. But I did throw out science projects in the fridge, polish all the stainless steel appliances until they vibrated, and cleaned the stove, the sink, the counters, and wiped down all the things that sit out on the counters. Took almost no time (I read the Times's Style section while I was scrubbing, because I'm all about the multitasking). Again I ask: what was the big fuss?

I keep learning this lesson over and over again: the things I procrastinate about tend to be less Big Deal items in reality than they are in my head.

It was a purely damned gorgeous day today. I'm just saying.
