I found a whole bunch of connective tissue writing for the book, have keyboarded it in, and discover (to my stunned amazement) that I have over 100,000 words on the book.
At the moment, of course, the book resembles Frankenstein's monster, all sewn together in awful, lumpy form. And there's still stuff missing. But there's form.
I have never, ever had a book fight me this way. At this point I'm just closing my eyes, holding my nose, and forging ahead, on the theory that it will all come out all right in the end. How? Nobody knows: it's a mystery.
