Another Knitting Question
29/12/09 14:11I am almost done with Avocado's hat, to which I added a simple second-color pattern. It's cute.
Now I'm looking at something more ambitious. But the pattern I'm looking at calls for a silk-blend yarn at $16/skein (six skeins required for the sweater I'm looking at). This is, um, a little rich for my personal blood. What do I need to know/do in order to substitute something a little less pricey? The yarn they're spec'ing is Farmhouse Yarns Silk Blend (34% silk, 33% cotton, 33% wool; 350 yd [322 m]/114 g. Do I simply want something that's approximately the same weight/length?
As always, grateful for assistance, and for the fact that you guys don't point and laugh when I ask these things.
