Tonight was City Arts and Tech.
Looks nice, if you want a very small school. They have a performing art program, which A wants.
In order to advance to 11th grade you need to defend your 10th grade portfolio.
They have 11th grade internships in community businesses.
I just wish, when schools say "we offer a project-based education," th at they'd tell you who doesn't, since they all claim to do so.
I just wish, when schools say "we offer a curriculum that includes all the requirements for entrance into the UC schools," they'd tell you who doesn't, since I haven't been to a dog-and-pony-show where they didn't claim to do so.
It might even be a nice change to hear a principal say "most of our teachers are truly gifted and passionate educators," and allow a little wiggle-room for the guy who has an off day.
I want all these things for my daughter. How the hell do I sort all this stuff out? No one up and says "frankly, I'd send my kid anywhere else."
This doesn't mean I don't think City Arts and Tech is a good school. Just...a little overwhelmed with it, I guess.
