A Good Choice

Avocado has decided to drop Chorus. Seeing as it was an optional "0 Period" class, and she had to get up an hour earlier every morning in order to get to school for it, I think this is a life enhancing decision. Hell, even if I get up 45 minutes later than I had been in order to get her fed and pack lunch and stuff like that...I feel better rested. And the child, who's been going through a rough time the last couple of weeks, needs the sleep. Going to bed at 9 is not an option. With a 6:55 wake up time I can negotiate her into bed at 10 and she actually awakes without the strong vibe of surly/groggy that had been her morning lot.

In other news: Happy Birthday, Julie Andrews! Aside from your many gifts as a performer, how many people get to have their names used as a magical incantation against bad choices? I think that's pretty cool.

A Big Sister for Lucy

Here comes Ardi. Short for Ardipithecus ramidus. And at 4.4 million years old, she's 1.2 million years older than her great-grandsomething, Lucy. Isn't this cool?
