The bus back to camp leaves on Thursday morning at 9am.

This means I can take my scheduled flight back to SF. I am really sorry that I've seen so little of NYC (outside of Queens) on this trip, but it wasn't a tourism trip, it was a Deal With It(tm) trip. Despite that, Avocado saw a movie with a camp friend (many mixes-up therein, the moral of which is: Don't Let a 12-Year-Old-Boy Make the Movie Plans) and we got to go to Dylan's Candy Bar, three floors of astonishing candyness. Not Haute Chocolate--the sort of place where the M&Ms come in 30 different colors, the Jelly Bellys come in 20 different flavors, and they sell themed "candy couture."

Now she's reading and I'm proofing, and I can make plans about the next couple of days. So relieved.

Damn

Charles N. Brown, publisher of Locus and all round raconteur, died on his way back from Readercon. There's another person I would have liked to have known better. I really really hate this mortality thing more and more.
