Again, Plague Season
12/12/08 11:57Avocado has missed four and a half days of school this week. We thought on Monday she was just, um, hungover from the party (in the sense of having run around squealing for hours on a chilly day, in and out the house, with her squeally peers). On Tuesday her stomach was icky enough that she puked in the car on the way to school (eighteen minutes into a nineteen minute drive, poor wench) and I brought her home again. Wednesday she made it to school and lasted to lunch time before her throat was too sore to continue. Yesterday I took her to the pediatrician: I saw white goo in her throat which could mean strep, and you don't fuck with strep. No strep, but an ear infection and an increasingly soupy, syrupy, rocky cough. And a fever. This morning, more cough, throat still sore, appetite returning but energy waaaaay low.
This means, in addition to no school, no weekend campout with the Girl Scouts at Camp Bothin, for her or for her chapterone (who would be, in fact, me). Now Spouse's throat is a little raw, and I have a cough. Tis the season.
In other news: we had to cancel a credit card because a few scam charges had been levied against it. In fact, it was the credit card company that flagged this and called us about it. I suppose, in these troubled times, they have to start offering, like, actual service.
