I Let Democracy Down

I was all set to go off this morning to be an Inspector at a polling place. Took the training class, picked up the bag with all the ballots, studied the opening and closing procedures, and was particularly looking forward to stepping out onto the street and announcing "Ladies and gentlemen, the polls are open!"

And then yesterday I put my back out.

So this morning I got up at 5, showered, and slowly drove over to the polling place to set up while waiting for my replacement. He came a little after six, we passed the torch, and I am home again, icing my spine. Damn. I was looking forward to this.

Next election, maybe?
