Vive la Reine!
18/5/08 18:46Voici la Reine de Quoi! Tonight Sarcasm Girl is off to see the Dresden Dolls, whom she adores. Apparently there is a whole cadre of people across the nation who dress up for Dresden Dolls performances and do street theatre in front of the venue before the show. SG's costume had its genesis in a purple chair frame she found on the street a couple of weeks ago. She's written pithy weirdnesses all over the frame, which she wears on straps on her shoulders (that's the blue straps you see there). The rest of her costume includes an old purple corset of mine (don't ask), stockings and garters, a big floofy green skirt, and the top hat with tinfoil crown. She looks like something that escaped from the asylum in The King of Hearts--and I mean that in the nicest possible way.
And she's taking this show on the road to the Fillmore. I hope she has a really fine time, and I will try to allay my parental terror about the kid doing this out on the street in that neighborhood. She's old enough to vote, she's old enough to wear a foil crown and be a queen.
Edited to Add: Amanda Palmer loved her chair! ("Dude, your chair is awesome.") La Reine spoke fractured French all evening. She got her chair signed by both Amanda and Brian, and got hugged by them both and had her picture taken with them, and made friends with all the other Dresden Dolls Brigadiers, and was awesome generally. She is more or less impersonating Eliza Doolittle as she washes her face. She has to be up in five and a half hours, so I think I'll go stick her top hat in her mouth until morning.
