My family loves Canada Mints. They're small, round wintergreen-flavored "sugar lozenges" with nothing much to recommend them nutritionally. Still, they're a family favorite, and you can find them everywhere on the East Coast. Out here, no. We were reduced to bringing back bags and bags of them from visits East. Yeah, we could buy them on the interweb, but that seemed like cheating somehow (and do I really need a 5 lb bag of the things?).

And then, looking for garter fastenings for a project of Sarcasm Girl's, I found a bag of Wintergreen Mints at Jo-An's Fabrics. I do not ask for the logic of this: it is clearly beyond me. But we have found a local supplier of the household crack, and are content.

Today I braved the heat and the Mission sunshine (which is fierce) and went to the Planning and Building Inspections offices to turn in photos of the last two outstanding electrical problems and their remedies. After some confusion as to how to handle the problem, a nice man signed the permit and we are in compliance and the kitchen, permit-wise, is complete.

There is still the ongoing and vexed matter of the damned refrigerator (one month and counting)...
