Temple o' Food

This afternoon
klages and I went to the new Whole Foods in Potrero Hill (a neighborhood in San Francisco, for the uninitiated). We wandered through the aisles of food porn for almost two hours; I bought two pounds of Chateaubriand, potatoes for mashing, Crimini mushrooms for grilling, raspberry sorbet and Mexican chocolate ice cream; Ellen bought the wine and salad fixings (Ellen's salads are astonishing works of art). Mostly, we just wandered the aisles, goggling at the gorgeousness of the food and grazing on the samples (two kinds of cheddar! Brown figs! Corn-rye bread!) and wandering the spa, where they offer massage and facials. Thought about getting veal for dinner, but at $19.99 a pound for scallopine I just couldn't just justify it.
Omigod.
We grilled the Chateaubriand for dinner and it was fabulous. And the salad and the potatoes and mushrooms and ice cream were too. I never need to eat again, but, alas, I most likely will.
