Hooray, Hooray
1/5/07 07:10It's the first of May. In the olden days my friends Lucie and Skye organized May celebrations in Central Park, with a dozen or so women in white dancing round a maypole, and a tiny pageant (Robin Hood play or Duel between Winter and Spring) and much singing and dancing. The idea was that if you danced the pole you were magically restored to virginity (which, of course, didn't last very long). This idea was stretched pretty thin the May day when I, nine-months pregnant with Sarcasm Girl, danced the pole with all the other women in white, to the counfoundment of the audience.
Two days later SG was born. I don't think there was a direct causal relationship.
Happy May Day, all.
